HAPPY 42nd BIRTHDAY SINGAPOREToday marks the 42nd year of independence for Singapore. This year, it was specially held at the floating platform at Marina Bay. It was something new for Singapore, to hold its birthday on a floating platform for the first time. Last year, it had its last birthday in the National Stadium before it was torn down this year to make way for a new sports hub. This year's parade was much shorter than the previous years. This year, the choir didn't have much appearance in the parade. There was only one segment where a few choir people sang in part of the theme song. However, there was quite nice performance put up by the Singapore SOKA Association as well as Clementi Primary School, Mayflower Secondary School and other participating schools and association. There were also display of Singapore's navy and land force. The fireworks display was quite nice. Overall, it was not bad for a first try. Pity the school choir was not taking part in this year's NDP. It would have made a history in Unity Sec for taking part in the last NDP at the National Stadium as well as the first NDP at Marina Bay Floating Platform.
